It was shown that the confusion can be resolved by considering the disagreement in the past research of the relationship between self-esteem and adaptation from the viewpoint of the state and trait self-esteem. An overview of the measurement methods for state self-esteem was discussed, and the usefulness of the Two-Item Self-Esteem scale state version was discussed as a future perspective.
