Description

This paper reports on the content of a public lecture that was held to understand the approach and practice of nurturing children's sensitivity under what kind of system and system in Finnish early childhood education, which is attracting international attention for its high level of education, from the perspective of music. In Finnish early childhood education, music, or the arts, forms part of a "diverse range of expression" that includes music, art, plastic arts, and physical and verbal expression, which are interwoven and fused together to form the basis of humanity and contribute significantly to the holistic growth and development of children. We were able to confirm that these activities are being undertaken in the context of cross-disciplinary activities. The flexibility of incorporating the original experience of music into play through experiential approaches and other teaching methods that maximize the affinity of each style of expression is a notable feature of Finnish early childhood education and music education for young children, and was very instructive for us.
